Ronald Hunt, D.D.S., M.S.
Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Dr. Hunt received his D.D.S. degree (1973) and M.S. in dental public health (1982) from the University of Iowa. He came to Midwestern University in 2010, after a 12-year term as dean of the School of Dentistry at Virginia Commonwealth University. Before his appointment at VCU, he was associate dean for academic affairs at the School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Prior to that he was a chairman of Preventive and Community Dentistry at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Dr. Hunt is a board-certified public health dentist and has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles about epidemiological surveys, clinical research, health services research, educational research, health policy, and dental education policy. He served on the Commission on Dental Accreditation (2000-2004) and has chaired nine comprehensive site visits to dental schools. He is actively engaged in organized dentistry, serving from 1998-2010 on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Dental Association and from 1999-2009 in the House of Delegates of the American Dental Association. He has long been active in the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and served as the ADEA president in 2009-2010. Dr. Hunt currently represents ADEA on ADA Code Maintenance Committee and the Dental Quality Alliance, a volunteer advocacy organization, both based at the American Dental Association in Chicago, and served as the 2013 Alliance chair.
