Lúcia Smith earned masters’ degrees in both Linguistics and Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist and works with both adult and pediatric populations. Ms. Smith speaks English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese, and has expertise in bilingual/multi-lingual care. Her background includes both the outpatient and inpatient hospital settings primarily serving adult clients, and in the outpatient hospital clinic setting primarily serving pediatric clients. With adult clients, she specializes in the evaluation and treatment of aphasia, traumatic brain injury, and acquired motor speech disorders. With the pediatric population, her areas of expertise are in evaluation and treatment of early intervention, speech sound disorders, language-based disorders, pediatric traumatic brain injury, and use of paper-based AAC.
