Podiatrists perform approximately two thirds of all the reconstructive foot and ankle surgery performed in the United States today. Reconstructive surgery is non-emergent. Examples include bunion surgery, neuroma surgery, hammertoe correction, excision of masses, release of nerve entrapments, removal of bone spurs, repairing arthritic joints, etc.
