What to Expect for In-Person Care

Appointment Availability

The Midwestern University Clinics are working toward resuming patient care in accordance with Federal and state executive orders and health service agency recommendations. Midwestern University has committed to providing its faculty and student practitioners with the personal protective equipment (PPE) needed to provide safe care to patients, as well as preparing all patient spaces for maximum protection.

As we gradually expand our clinical services to include more in-person care, please be assured that University staff are working within strict guidelines to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission in all clinical contexts. Telehealth options are available for a variety of consulting and caregiving conditions, and our caring staff will work with you to determine if in-person care is required and what steps should be taken to maximize your safety in that event.

We have added new precautions to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission, including:

  • Limits to the number of people on campus
  • Carefully monitored entrance points
  • Waiting areas arranged for social distancing
  • Sterilization and deep cleaning procedures for all Clinic spaces
  • Screening of all patients for symptoms and possible COVID-19 exposure before entering our buildings
  • Mask requirements for caregivers, patients, and staff

Please call our Clinics for more information, or visit our websites at and for details.

What to Expect at Your In-Person Appointment

The Centers for Disease Control require all caregivers, staff, patients, and visitors to wear masks or CDC-recommended face coverings as a precaution against COVID-19 transmission while in any Clinic spaces.

Recommended procedures for patients and visitors to Midwestern University Clinics:

  • Wear a mask or CDC-recommended face covering at all times unless specifically requested by Clinic caregivers
  • Practice responsible social distancing – six feet of separation is the standard recommendation from the CDC
  • Arrive early for your appointment in order to accommodate COVID-19 screening procedures prior to entering the Clinic
  • Limit the number of people at your appointment, particularly pre-teen children, unless they are receiving care at the Clinic. Guests of patients may be asked to wait outside of clinic for safety purposes
